The 2009 SOG Fish Fry at Catfish Bay was canceled due to lack of interest and volunteers.
Please participate in the planning, preparation and plan to attend the 2010 event!
Attendees
All are welcome but advance registration by October 6th is mandatory for admission.Please notify us of any change in your plans or number of guests.
This will insure we have enough of everything, but not so much as to waste money on
unnecessary purchases.

As we are still very early in the planning stages, we are extremely open for ideas
and suggestions at this time.
If there is enough interest, maybe even a small fishing tournament in the morning
with the winner getting SOG bragging rights.
Time;
The food lines will open 3PM.
Munchies will be set out
earlier.
Volunteers will be notified as we approach October 16th the time that they need to arrive.
Hopefully, there will be someone at the pavilion with coffee & donuts standing
by early in the morning. The entrance to Lakeside is locked and opens at 6AM.
VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED
We have decided to not have the FF catered and will do everything ourselves.
This means we will need the help of lots of geezer fans throughout the day to make
this the best SOG Fish Fry ever.
"Set Up Folks"
They need to arrive early and set everything up. Runs extension cords,
ropes off the cooking area, arranges tables, etc. Makes the coffee & supplies the donuts.

They guard the
entrance and insure everyone checks in and gets their name tags. They also
collect the "donation" and keep the rift-raft away.

Oversees the
quantity and quality of fish pledges before the FF.
Runs the fish crew & keeps an eye on the "Preppies"
which are notorious slackers and insures the "red
meating" is up to SOG standards during the FF.

fillets with the secret SOG mix, making up burgers, cutting up onions, etc.

The "hero"of the fish fry but can become a "zero" if the fish is
burnt, the hush puppies are soggy or we run out of fries on the serving line.
SOG will supply the peanut oil but the fry cook needs to bring anything else he
might need.

Like previous years, we will need folks to pledge and then supply thawed fish fillets which is the main entree. These fish should be red-meated handled along with being handled & chilled properly from the time they were first caught.
We will be purchasing additional meat items such as burgers & franks in limited quantities to supplement the fish.
Donations of other home made or store bought food would be greatly appreciated. Break out “Grandma’s secret recipes”.
Some of these items are beans, slaw, pasta, meatball & sausage dishes, bread & rolls, assorted types of salads, cheese & appetizer trays, sweet & unsweetened tea, various casseroles, assorted chips & dips.
Deserts of pies, cookies and cakes are ALWAYS welcome, as are donuts for the morning shift guarding the PP pavilion.
Please advise us of any food item that you plan to donate. We will post an updated list of these items so others will see what may be needed and those items that we may have a surplus of.

These are some of the items we need to beg, borrow, steal or rent for the fish fry.
It is like any other picnic and the same type things are needed, but in greater quantities.
Please advise us if you are bringing these or other items that you think we may need.
Clearly mark your name on them and the "Clean up crew" will get the items back to the owners.
Picnic tables........There are only a few there. Lots of these needed in the food lines, for prepping and also so some of the folks can sit to eat.
Extension cords and multiple outlet power strips.
Great big coffee pot and filters.
Ice chests....full of ICE....Needed for the raw fish, beverages and any other food items needing refrigeration.
Chairs........Bring your to sit on. Bring one for a neighbor if ya got it.
Hot plates or something that we can use to keep the food warm.
ANYTHING else that you may think of.
Table cloths or some type of covering for the tables
Large coolers for the iced tea
We will be using this to plan the quantities of food needed. Please notify us of any changes that are made.
