Camp Cavett, 2009

..........Camp Cavett Childrens Trip Information.........

Your Help Is Needed to take these kids fishing.

These kids are from Children's Hospital, all of the kids have or
have had some type of cronic illness, such as cancer, heart trouble,
sisocial, kidney problems and other illness. We had a great turnout
in 2008

Boat type does not matter, we can use bass boats, ski boats,
pontoons. You will be assigned two to 5 kids. These kids suffer
from a host of illnesses but with most of them you'd never know
they are sick. They just want to fish and ride in the boat and
have a good time (something they don't get to do much because they
are in the hospital so often for treatments).

Also, call Jenny Rodgers, Cavett Kids Foundation Director,
Director of Diverisionary Play, so she may add you to her list.
Her phone number is 405-271-2271, e-mail is
Jenny_Rodgers@ouhsc.edu.

This Thursday trip is not headed by any orginization, it is just the good
fishermen that fish Lake Texoma getting together and donating their time and
equipment to give these kids a good time fishing on the lake.
Catfish Bay Marina is kind enough to donate the use of their facitilies for this event. We
need boats for at least 175 kids, so please sign up as soon as possible.

Steps to Reduce Striped Bass Hooking Mortality From Fish Caught
in Deep Water

Paul Mauck asked me to post this for all to read.....Please read.

Fish as shallow as possible: If fish are in 60 feet water try catching
them at 30 feet rather than at a depth of 50 feet, this helps reduce the
bends.

When bait fishing, use circle-type hooks, designed for hooking fish in
the mouth: One that has been successful is the Mustad "Croker Hook" size
1/0 to 2/0.

Release fish along side of boat to reduce handling stress. Be sure to
wet
